She has earned several additional literary awards and was bestowed with the Premio Colosseo by the city of Rome for her stories' contribution to enhancing the image of Rome. She has been the Chair of the UK Crimewriters’ Association, the Honorary President of the Classical Association and the Chair of the Society of Authors. The I, Claudius series is very good in that English history. The novel won the Authors’ Club Best First Novel award in 1989 and her character Falco later won the Sherlock Award for Best Comic Detective. Then there are the Marcus Didius Falco books written by Lindsey Davis which are just plain fun. She produced another manuscript, featuring Falco and published The Silver Pigs in 1989. However, it led to the development of one of her most well-known characters, Marcus Didius Falco. She then wrote The Course of Honor (1998), which was rejected and remained unpublished for nearly a decade. She later left her job and took up writing full time.ĭavis began writing a romantic magazine serial. Soon after, an unpublished historical romance novel of hers was shortlisted for the Georgette Heyer Prize. Many years later, unhappy in her work, she began writing, letting her passion for history guide her.
